Welcome to my journey: 12 Tweaks | 12 Weeks!

I think the super moon stirred something in me. What might a journey toward enlightenment look like for a 39‑year‑old woman moving steadily through suburban life?

As Siddhartha reminds us, true wisdom cannot be inherited from texts or borrowed from others. It isn’t handed down — it’s discovered within, realized independently through lived experience and the quiet awakening of one’s own spirit.

This is a journey that’s self‑guided, though far less rugged than Siddhartha’s. His path was jungle and dusty trails; mine involves paved roads and the occasional Starbucks.

As always, I write to hold myself accountable — to both this commitment and to my reader(s). My journey begins here: twelve weeks shaped by twelve simple, practical tweaks. I invite you to follow along, or at least tune in and laugh as I explore personal growth with my unwavering commitment to humor. I’ll write, challenge myself, challenge you, and do my best not to slip back into the very habits that inspired me to google, “What did Siddhartha say about enlightenment again?”

More than just a blog

First and foremost, I am a mom. Beyond that, I am a social worker, a believer in the power of a growth mindset, a lifelong learner, a writer, a builder of community, and someone who values humor as much as resilience. I love planning big gatherings and bringing like‑minded people together to grow, laugh, and connect. For me, life is a journey that can be hard as hell at times, but it’s also profoundly beautiful — especially when you keep momentum behind every step forward.

Who I write for

My ideal reader is someone who seeks to create their own journey toward modern‑day enlightenment — parents, people of all ages, those who are self‑motivated, and those who sometimes turn to community for growth. This blog is for anyone looking to make small, sustainable tweaks that lead to a more fulfilling life. If you're ready to embrace growth and build resilience, you're in the right place.

Why i started 12 tweaks | 12 weeks

Have you ever had an idea that lit you up instantly? I’m beginning this deeply personal journey because, truthfully, I feel stuck. For some time now, I’ve been living with a sense of apathy — a word that once felt completely foreign to the way I existed. Like so many, I’m searching for a life where I thrive, not one where I chase fleeting dopamine hits to break up the monotony. Those tiny moments meant to make me feel alive have instead left me feeling… numb. I want to change the tone of my life.

As both a social worker and a personal trainer of more than 25 years, I know firsthand the power habits hold over us. The good ones — like practicing mindfulness and gratitude in each moment — can transform our days. The bad ones — like automatically reaching for a glass of wine because that’s what 5 p.m. has come to mean — can quietly shape our lives in ways we don’t always intend.

"This blog is a space for intentional growth — one tweak at a time. Through twelve week journeys, I’ll explore practical changes that strengthen habits, deepen relationships, enrich friendships, and improve work and personal life."
